Botulism

Botulism is a severe, often fatal form of food poisoning which can affect most animals and birds, and occasionally humans.  

Botulism is usually fatal in cattle and can cause serious economic losses to farmers.  
Botulism is not a notifiable disease and no statutory action is taken in cases or suspected cases of botulism

Vaccination and biosecurity measures in relation to botulism are the responsibility of farmers and animal keepers in conjunction with their private veterinary practitioners
