Immigration

While second and even third generations of Chinese have been born in Northern Ireland and regard it as their home, the community still faces major difficulties in relation to immigration and nationality. Amongst the Chinese Community in Northern Ireland there is clearly a lack of knowledge in relation to immigration and nationality matters. There is a considerable misunderstanding about entry clearance, renewing visas and subsequent changes in immigration status. Much of the information about immigration and nationality tends to get passed around the community by word of mouth. Since each case may vary slightly there is a high risk that information applicable to one person's situation may not be applicable to someone else.
