Publication of the Official Feed and Food Controls (OFFC) National Control Plan for the UK
Publication of the Official Feed and Food Controls (OFFC) National Control Plan for the UK
Regulation (EC) 882/2004 (about arrangements for the verification of compliance with animal health and welfare rules (as well as feed and food law)) requires Member States to implement by 1 January 2007 a single integrated, multi-annual national control plan (NCP). The National Control Plan is to contain general information on the structure and organisation of the feed and food, and animal health and welfare control systems in place for each member state.
The first single integrated multi-annual control plan (NCP) for the UK has now been published. The NCP has been prepared jointly by Defra, SEERAD, the Welsh Assembly Government, DARD and the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Defra and the Devolved Administrations were responsible for the animal health and welfare elements of the NCP, the FSA were responsible for the feed and food elements. The FSA compiled all the inputs into the single published document. This first National Control Plan runs from 1 January 2007 to March 2010.
The National Control Plan is centrally located on the FSA website at the following link:-
Additionally, interested parties in the UK have been notified via a stakeholder letter of the publication of the National Control Plan.
Arrangements are being put in place to establish future procedures for amending the NCP on a yearly basis.
