What is contemporaneous?

A definition of the word 'contemporaneous' as it is used when referring to herd registers.
No definition of the contemporaneous herd register appears in national or European legislation.  The term is one that we use to mean a register made ‘at the same time’ as the events (such as births, movements and deaths) that it records. The Cattle Identification (Enforcement) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 introduce the following time limits within which a record must be made in the register:
