Trading premises facilities
Conditions required for approval as an authorised Trading Premises in relation to necessary facilities.
Necessary facilities
- Pens, races and loading/unloading ramps that are stock-proof, of robust construction and maintained in a satisfactory condition.
- Facilities to inspect and test individual animals.
- Lighting for the inspection of livestock.
- Facilities to isolate and treat diseased or injured animals.
- Facilities to feed and water animals.
- Animal housing and transport facilities that have the ability to be cleansed and disinfected easily.
- Supplies of hot water and disinfectant to allow cleansing and disinfection to be carried out (this should include a good quality mains powered high pressure washer).
- Isolation facilities.
- Facilities for the loading/unloading of the animals.
- Animal housing in a good state of repair and of an acceptable welfare standardFacilities to dispose of sweepings, scrapings, bedding and manure; an appropriate system for managing waste water that is maintained in good working order.
- A perimeter that is stock-proof by means of robust barriers of permanent construction.
- The materials with which animals have contact on the Trading Premises must be capable of withstanding pressure washing and potentially corrosive disinfectants. Wooden fittings are only acceptable if they are of smooth construction and can be pressure washed.
