Record keeping requirements for Trading Premises
Conditions required for approval as an authorised Trading Premises in relation to the records that must be kept.
Trading premises records
Dealers will be required to keep and maintain satisfactory records and allow Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) staff access to those records. Records will include details of:
- The number of animals entering or leaving their Trading Premises
- The identification numbers of the animals
- The breed and gender of the animals
- The name, address and holding number of any person from whom an animal was purchased
- The date of purchase
- The registration number of the vehicle in which the animals arrived on the Trading Premises
- The name of the person transporting the animals into the Trading Premises
- The name, address and holding number of the purchaser of an animal
- The premises of destination
- The date of sale
- The registration number of the vehicle in which the animals departed from the premises
- The name of the person transporting the animals out of the Trading Premises
Dealers must keep the records in legible form and retain the records for a period depending on the animals involved.
- In the case of pigs – 3 years
- In the case of sheep or goats – 4 years
- In the case of bovine animals – 10 years
