Birds

Anyone keeping birds is required by law to register with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).

All birds, excluding caged pet birds kept in the owner’s home, must be registered.

If you keep birds, you will be asked, from time to time, to complete a questionnaire about your premises and the number of bird you have.  This is because we need to update the information we hold to ensure that it is accurate.  We also might need to contact you quickly, for example in the event of an Avian Influenza outbreak in the UK.

Any changes to your details must be notified to the Department within 30 days.
