Register Birth

1. Select the Animal Number (Calf ear tag), colour, Breed and Sex from the available list.
2. Enter the calf date of birth; by typing dd/mm/yyyy (for example, 04/07/2009) or click the calendar icon calendarand select the date of birth.
3. Select the appropriate DAM number for the calf.
4. Complete the sire information if required (Optional)
   Tag;   Select - Pick the Bull number from your herd list
   Tag;   Enter - Enter the FULL APHIS tag number if the bull is not in your herd
OR
   Breed - Choose a breed if the tag number is unknown
   Sire Name - Enter a sire name of your choice
5. Click Add Animal to add the new calf to the list of calves to be registered
6. Repeat this process for additional calves
7. Click Register to send the information to DARD
Please check the reply at the top of your screen after registering your animals
No sire information added: This is optional and can be ignored if appropriate
You can update sire information by selecting Animal and Update sire information from the main APHIS Online menu
Birth Conflict: A dam number used has already been registered to a calf of under nine months old
After attempting an registration you can select the animal or animals which have reported a birth Conflict error and change either the Dam number or Date of Birth to fix the error. If you choose to continue to register the animals with a Birth Conflict Dam number the calf will receive a Valid Dam Failure (VDF) status.

Register Death

1. Select the animal number that has died
2. Enter the date of Death; by typing dd/mm/yyyy (for example, 04/07/2009) or click the calendar icon calendar and select the date of death.
3. Choose the manner of carcass disposal
4. Choose the place of disposal.

Register Calf Death

If your calf has died, was stillborn, aborted or humanely destroyed up to 21 days after birth you must register the death. The calf does NOT require an ear tag or Identity number.
1. Select the calf’s DAM number from the list
2. Enter the date to calf was born; by typing dd/mm/yyyy (for example, 04/07/2009) or click the calendar icon calendar and select the date of birth.
3. Pick the appropriate detail describing the nature of the calf’s death

Point in time lists will allow you see what animals were registered in your herd at any time in the past.
               Build Date:    Historic date of the herd list
               Date Run:      Date the list was requested

View Animal Details

You can view full APHIS details of any animal that is in or has been in your herd
Type the FULL APHIS tag number of the animal you wish to view and click select
Tip – If you wish to view details of an animal in your herd list. Select your herd list first and click on the animal number.

Animal details will show you, in addition to the herd list information:
Dam number info:    Click on the dam number to see information about the animals DAM
Status Information:   Point your mouse over the animals statuses to see a brief description of the status
Movement History:    Where and when the animal was born/imported.
                                    Which markets or herds the animal has been registered.
                                    The last movement of your herd to either market/abattoir/farm/dead
Progeny History:        Provide details of any calves registered to an animal while it was registered in your herd.
Click print to produce a hard copy of the Animal information Screen

Update Sire Information

You can add or update Sire information to any animal in your herd list
1. Select the animal number from the Animal Number list
2. Tag; Select - Pick the Bull number from your herd list
    Tag; Enter - Enter the FULL APHIS tag number if the bull is not in your herd
OR
     Breed - Choose a breed if the tag number is unknown
3. Sire NameEnter a sire name of your choice

Electronic Movement Notification - Step 1 Select the Facility

1. Select the Facility Type from the list
2. Select the specific facility, ensure the name and address is correct.
3. Click Continue

Electronic Movement Notification - Step 2 Select the animals

1. Enter the optional  Vehicle details if known
2. Filter your animals by using the radio button radio button
3. Tick the box beside each animal number you wish to move.
4. Click Add Selected Animals to add the animals to your movement document.
5. You can remove animals by using the remove buttons, if necessary.
6. Enter the date of movement in the format dd/mm/yyyy that is 01/04/2009
7. Click Continue to produce the movement document
Note: For “Farm to Farm” movements the seller has the option of checking “Seller Confirmation” on the same day as planned move. If the move is confirmed by the seller then animals are transferred to the Buyer herd immediately, awaiting Buyer confirmation.  The seller can confirm any planned move on the date of move by using the Amend Planned Move function.

Electronic Movement Notification - Step 3 Print the Movement Document

Note: Software designed to view PDF files types is required (for example, Adobe Reader , available free at: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/)
1. Read the information on screen
2. Click the option Printer Version
3. The document will either be produced in a new window or new tab in the web browser (depending on PC configuration)

4. Select, file and print, to produce a hard copy for the movement document. You must present this copy with the animals to the Market or Abattoir.
Note: If you are moving animals from Farm to Farm the hard copy will include a “Buyers Form” in addition to the “Sellers Form”. Both of which are required by the Buyer

Amend Planned Move

APHIS Online allows the user to amend or confirm movements into or out of the herd:
Seller Confirmation Required:
Lists all moves OUT of the herd (Farm to Farm) that have not been confirmed by the seller. The seller can select and confirm any planned moves on the day of planned move.
Buyer Confirmation:
Lists all movement of animals, INTO the herd, that require buyer confirmation. Including moves from Market and Farm. The user must select a move and enter the appropriate buyer information when prompted.
Buyer and Seller Confirmed:
List all moves INTO and OUT of the herd that have been confirmed by the herdowner.

Animal Movement Details

APHIS Online can display a report of the details of all movements IN/OUT of the herd. These moves will include Births into the herd and deaths out of the herd.
1.Enter the date, in the “From” field, you wish the report to start by typing dd/mm/yyyy (for example, 04/07/2009) or click the calendar icon calendarand select the date.
2. The “To” date will automatically be added as 3 months after the “From” date or today’s date (if today is less than three months after the “From” date).
3. Select either the “In” or “Out” radio button
4. Click “Select” to view the report. The report will include the animal details plus appropriate movement information.
5. Download and save the report, if required, by click the Download button
Note: A maximum of three months between “From” and “To” dates applies to all reports

Buyer Confirmation

APHIS Online allows the user to confirm all movements into the herd from Market or Farm.
1. Choose the document to confirm from the drop down list
2. Check the details on the document are correct, including animal information, sellers details and seller confirmation date (if present)
3. Choose a buyer confirmation number (Sticker number) from the drop down list
4. Click OK to confirm the move.
Note: If the move is not “Seller Confirmed”, there will be the option to remove animals which are not received by the buyer and add animal that are not on the movement document.
If the move is “Seller Confirmed” and the details are not correct, please contact your DVO as soon as possible and report the problem or fill in a Raise DVO query report on APHIS Online
