Consultation on Scallop fishing in Northern Ireland Inshore Waters
Following a series of meetings with local fishermen on the future development of scallop fishing in Northern Ireland waters DARD is proposing to introduce a new set of regulations which will be known as the Conservation of Scallops Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008.
These regulations will amalgamate the current scallop regulations into one piece of legislation and will introduce enhanced conservation measures as well as extending closed times for scallop dredging.
The Department is interested in your views on how you feel the implementation of these proposals will effect fishing businesses, the marine environment or other related activities.
All responses should be sent by 01 September 2008 to
