Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Health Check Proposals

The CAP Health Check proposals published by the EU Commission on 20 November 2007 addressed important issues such as the future of milk quotas, compulsory modulation and the single farm payment scheme.

As part of its public consultation process, the Commission produced a Stakeholder Questionnaire seeking views on specific issues raised in the Health Check Communication.  Stakeholders were asked to complete this questionnaire and return their response to the Commission by 15 January 2008 and, in addition, to provide a copy of their response to the Department.

The consultation questionnaire was published on the Department's Internet site and sent electronically to more than 60 individuals and organisations that may have an interest in the subject.  The Department has considered and summarised the views expressed in these responses.
