Consultation on Swine Vesicular Diease Regulations (NI) 2008

The existing disease control legislation for Swine Vesicular Disease, the Swine Vesicular Disease Order (Northern Ireland) 1973, is now 35 years old.  The effect of this legislation was to apply the control measures contained in the 1962 Foot and Mouth Disease legislation to an outbreak of Swine Vesicular Disease, which was not completely appropriate.  The 2006 Foot and Mouth Disease Order is even less appropriate for the control of Swine Vesicular Disease and we have therefore drafted new Regulations to properly implement the Community Swine Vesicular Disease legislation.
