The Department is carrying out a consultation on the Animals (Specified Diseases) Regulations and the Animals (Insect Transmissible) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010
Our legislation must conform with European legislation for the control of Specified Diseases and our existing controls are very limited. The European Directive and the new specified diseases Regulations will cover the following notifiable diseases:
- rinderpest,
- peste des petits ruminants,
- sheep and goat pox (capripox),
- vesicular stomatitis,
- lumpy skin disease,
- epizootic haemorragic disease of deer, and
- Rift Valley fever.
