Consultation on The Scrapie (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010

The Department is carrying out a consultation on The Scrapie (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010.

The Scrapie (Fees) Regulations (NI) 2008 currently provides a statutory basis for the charging of fees as follows:-

initial registration fee to join the Scrapie Monitored Flocks Scheme which enables flock owners from Northern Ireland to export sheep or goats to other Member States; and
annual membership fee which is a renewal fee allowing farmers to continue to be part of the Scheme.

The Scrapie (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 will provide the Department with powers to set fees at a level to achieve full cost recovery. The fees will therefore be set to reflect clearly the charges that are applicable under the Scrapie Monitored Flock Scheme to take account of administrative costs.

The consultation will run from Monday 2 October until Monday 14 December 2009.
