Environmental Report on the draft NI Rural Development Programme 2007-13
The Department has prepared a draft Environmental Report on the likely significant environmental effects of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 as required under European Directive 2001/42/EC on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment and the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004.
In compiling the Environmental Report, the interaction of the programme with a very wide range of EU, UK and NI Polices, Plans and Programmes was assessed, and the results of previous related programme evaluations considered. The assessment of the impacts of the programme was considered around the themes of Biodiversity, Fauna and Flora, Climatic Factors and Air, Cultural Heritage - Material Assets, Human Health, Landscape, Population, Soil and Water.
The broad conclusion of the Report is that the effects of the programme should provide a broadly positive impact on the environment, although particular measures have the potential to create negative impacts.
The draft Report is published alongside (and should be read in conjunction with) the draft Programme.
