Contingency Planning for Epizootic Disease Branch
The Contingency Planning for Epizootic Disease Unit (CPED) is responsible for ensuring the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has in place a Contingency Plan for controlling, eradicating and recovering from an outbreak of epizootic disease.
The Plan is continuously reviewed to reflect legislative changes, policy developments, scientific advances. It is set within the framework of the EU requirements for contingency plans for specific diseases and of the Northern Ireland (NI) legislation under which government action is taken to control epizootic diseases.
