TSE Branch

TSE Branch consists of two sections, and is responsible for TSE Policy issues and surveillance monitoring.

TSE Policy Section

is responsible for policy in the following areas
  1. All TSE's including BSE;
  2. Pre-August 1996 animals
  3. Northern Ireland Scrapie Plan (NISP)
  4. BSE in sheep contingency plan

TSE Surveillance Section

is responsible for
  1. BSE and Scrapie testing programmes; and
  2. the action taken following confirmation of BSE in cattle.
