- Belfast International Airport (BIA) is an European Union (EU) approved Border Inspection Post for the importation of consignments of Products of Animal Origin originating in Third Countries.
- Animals (not including Dogs and Cats) originating in Non EU Countries must enter Northern Ireland via another Border Inspection Post as BIA is not approved for live animals.
- Belfast International Airport has modern holding and inspection facilities for use in the import and export of dogs and cats.
Any passenger arriving in Northern Ireland who has been in contact with farm livestock or who is in possession of meat or dairy products must present themselves to an officer from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on arrival inside the main terminal building.
