New EC Regulation to prevent, deter and eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing

From 1 January 2010 imports of fish and fish products from outside the European Community will be subject to new rules on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Imports will need to be accompanied by a validated certificate, which includes details of how and when the fish was caught, and assuring that the fishing activity was carried out legally.
