Quota Management
Quota Management
Fishing activity is regulated at European level, by allocation of 'Total Allowable Catches' (TACs) to defined individual fishing areas. Within these TACs, each member state is granted quota allocations. The Northern Ireland allocations are managed by two local Producer Organisations (POs), overseen by the Department, within the UK wide quota management system.
Quota Management Rules 2012
The UK Fisheries administrations' guidance notes on fisheries quota management have been re-written and updated. All UK vessels, including those within PO's are subject to these rules, which are agreed yearly.
