Rural Challenge Programme 2009
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) launched a £400,000 Rural Challenge Programme in September 2009 as a direct response to issues identified in the Rural Anti Poverty and Social Exclusion Framework developed during 2008/2009.
The programme asked community/voluntary groups to identify a local need and propose an initiative to address poverty and social exclusion within their rural community under one of the 8 target groups:-
- Children & Young People;
- Lone Parents;
- Unemployed;
- Disabled;
- Carers;
- Elderly;
- Ethnic Minorities; and
- Low Paid Workers
The programme closed for applications on Friday 30th October 2009.
