Fiona Sharkey, Dungannon, a student on the Loughry Campus BSc (Hons) Supply Management degree course, is currently experiencing the world of work as a placement student with the marketing department of the Livestock and Meat Commission for Northern Ireland.
Fiona has undertaken a variety of tasks since she has started the placement. These include assistance with:
- The LMC stand at SIAL, Paris, Global Food Marketplace Exhibition.
- The LMC’s Professional Development Event for Home Economics Teachers at Balmoral Conference Centre.
- The co-ordination of the LMC’s ‘Meat for Schools’ scheme.
- The co-ordination of the LMC’s school and community cookery demonstrations.
- The LMC exhibition stand at Balmoral Show.
Fiona says: “I am really enjoying my placement. Every day is different and I am gaining experience in many areas of marketing and believe I am developing many valuable skills which will be essential for my future career. I am also getting the opportunity to apply knowledge that I have gained at Loughry Campus. The year has flown by and I cannot believe that I will be going into the final year of my degree programme in September.”
