Guidance on the classification of Beef, Pig and Sheep carcases, and reporting Beef, Pigmeat and Sheepmeat prices

Summary:

This guidance provides the beef, pig and sheep industry with information on a new European Union (EU) Regulation on the classification and price reporting of beef, pig and sheep carcases and a new implementing Statutory Rule i.e. the Beef and Pig Carcase Classification Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 (S.R. 2010 No. 231). The purpose of these Regulations is to provide domestic enforcement powers for the current EU legislation on the Community scales for the classification of carcases in the beef and pig sectors.
