Counter Fraud Strategy Document
Summary:
We are all the victims of fraud in public services as it deprives the community at large of resources, which could otherwise be used for better services. Counter fraud work should therefore not be seen as an end to itself, but as a means of making the best possible use of our resources. As with other large organisations, the size and nature of our services puts us at risk of loss due to fraud both from within and outside the Department. We have always taken this risk seriously and have many structures and control mechanisms in place to counter fraud.
