Cross Border Cooperation

The INTERREG IIIA Programme is a EU Community Initiative designed to support cross border co-operation in areas such as economic and social development. The Programme cover Northern Ireland and the six border counties of Ireland and is delivered by Cross-border Cooperation Partnerships.

INTERREG IIIA

The Ireland / Northern Ireland INTERREG IIIA Programme covers all of Northern Ireland and the six border counties of Ireland.  The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in Ireland are responsible for the Rural Development aspect of the Programme.  The Departments are currently assisting rural communities and businesses to implement projects that will impact upon cross border rural economy.

Cross-border Cooperation Partnerships have been funded to implement projects focusing on natural resources, rural craft and tourism and cross border arts and culture.
