Farm Modernisation Programme
The Farm Modernisation Programme (FMP) is funded under Axis 1 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007 - 2013. It aims to contribute to improving the competitiveness and economic performance of agricultural and horticultural businesses in Northern Ireland.
This Programme will provide financial support for farm business across all sectors to modernise their holdings and improve their production techniques through on-farm investments in new plant, machinery and equipment over six priority investment areas:
• Introduction of new technologies and innovation;
• Improved animal health and welfare;
• Increased hygiene control and product storage;
• Enhanced occupational safety and business efficiency;
• Increased energy efficiency; and
• Enhanced environmental status.
Who can apply?
This Programme is open to all farm businesses with a DARD Category 1 Business Identification Number (Business ID).
When will the FMP open for receipt of applications?
Funding under the FMP will be delivered over a series of application periods or tranches:
  • FMP Tranche 1 closed for applications on Tuesday 31 March 2009 and, all awards for funding under this tranche have been made.
  • FMP Tranche 2 closed for applications at 4.00pm on Friday 26 November 2010 and, applications are now being assessed.
  • It is proposed that a 3rd Tranche of FMP will be announced in due course.
