Definitions used for imports
Definitions of terms used for products of animal origin.
- Eggs - All birds' eggs - for personal consumption.
- Egg products - All products that contain egg. For example omelette, egg noodles, dried egg.
- Fish and Fishery Products - Fresh, dried, cooked, cured, smoked fish and products which have 10% or more fish in them, examples being oyster sauce, canned tuna and various fish sauces and prawns.
- Honey - All honey products for personal consumption.
- Meat - Raw meat that is fresh or frozen. For example red meat, poultry, game, bush meat (wild meat), frogs' legs, snails, reptile, insects, raw sausage meat.
- Meat Product - Cooked or dried meat (for example pies, ham, biltong (dried meat), pot noodles which contain pieces of meat, meatballs, meat loaf, cured or cooked sausage, pate and meat paste.
- Milk and Milk Products - This includes liquid milk, dried milk, concentrated milk, cream, butter, cheese (irrespective of how it is packed) and products containing fresh cream.
- Shellfish - Hinged with two shells, such as oysters and scallops.
