DARD Rural Strategy 2007-2013
The DARD Rural Strategy 2007-13 was launched on 9 October 2006 and provides a broad strategic context for rural policy in Northern Ireland over the next seven years.
The overall theme of the Strategy is ‘diversifying the rural economy, protecting the rural environment and sustaining rural communities’.
It focuses on four key aims:
- creating a rural champion;
- improving performance in the marketplace;
- conserving and investing in the rural environment; and
- strengthening the social and economic infrastructure of rural areas.
The Strategy includes an Action Plan indicating how the Department intends to take forward the Strategy’s main elements in the short to medium term.
