The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is currently seeking nominations to appoint (9) highly motivated individuals to represent the following areas:

Role of Drainage Council

The main functions of the Drainage Council are to determine which watercourses should be designated for drainage works at public expense and to consider the department’s proposals for Drainage and Flood Protection Schemes.  It also has a consultative role in relation to assessment of the environmental impact on drainage works.

Time Commitment, Remuneration and Terms of Appointment

Appointments carry no remuneration i.e. no salary; post holders will be eligible to claim travel and subsistence at Civil Service rates and childcare allowance where appropriate.  Meetings are held 3 or 4 times per year, throughout Northern Ireland, depending on the level of business. The appointments will be for a (4) four year fixed term that coincides with local council elections. The appointments are for 2012-15 term of the Drainage Council.

Skills and Experience

We would like to attract candidates with a particular interest and knowledge in Tourism, Fishery, Agriculture, and District Councils.  No specific qualifications are required to apply.
