Sensitive river management

The Agency undertakes its river maintenance works in accordance with a maintenance manual developed and refined over many years. A section of this manual provides guidance on achieving the twin aims of maintaining the drainage function and preserving the conservation interest of watercourses.

This manual is reviewed and updated periodically to take account of new best practice techniques as they become available.
