Contents of the Strategic Flood Map

The Strategic Flood Map illustrates areas throughout Northern Ireland that are estimated to be prone to flooding now and in the future.  It identifies the areas at risk of flooding from each of the main flood sources of rivers, sea and surface water.  It also provides additional information on the location of existing flood defences (such as embankments and walls) and highlights the areas that benefit from a reduction in the likelihood of flooding as a consequence of their presence.
The existing map layers shall be reviewed and updated as new information becomes available and new map layers shall be included as appropriate.
