Rural Borewells Scheme

What is the Rural Borewells Scheme?
The Rural Borewells Scheme aims to provide financial assistance for the construction of a private borewell (and/or installation of appropriate treatment works) to enable applicants to obtain a wholesome water supply in rural areas where accessing the public water mains is not technically or financially possible.
Who can apply?
Applications are invited from owners/landlords. (Tenants are not eligible to apply).
The property must be either owner-occupied or privately rented accommodation.
For privately rented accommodation, the owner of the property can apply, as landlord, for grant on behalf of his/her tenant.
When will the Scheme open for receipt of applications?
A new application period will be open from Wednesday 24 April 2013 until 4pm on Friday 31 May 2013.
Please note that no new applications will be accepted after 4pm on this date.
The Rural Borewells Scheme has been developed in partnership between DARD and the Department for Regional Development (DRD).
