Cut flower hydrangea

Hydrangea macrophylla is a popular species as a cut flower and is in great demand by the florists especially for wedding bouquets.
Hydrangea for cut flowers can come in a range of colours and hues. It can be considered a high value crop and we are evaluating a number of varieties at Greenmount Campus and growers’ holdings under tunnel and glasshouse conditions.
Hydrangea flowers can be harvested at the ‘fresh’ stage or at the ‘classic’ stage from May until October.
