Cut Foliage Project
A range of outdoor foliage and cut flower species are being evaluated and demonstrated at Greenmount Campus and at growers’ holdings, as to their suitability under local conditions, their cultural techniques and market acceptability.
Growers attend knowledge and technology transfer events to update themselves of this technology. Students attending Floristry courses at Greenmount Campus also have first hand exposure to new locally grown species.
Species currently under investigation include:
- Eucalyptus
- Hypericum
- Rosa (rose hips)
- Symphoricarpos
- Salix
- Baccharis

Knowledge and technology transfer events
Farmers and growers interested in learning about the production and marketing of foliage crops will be invited to attend demonstrations and workshops throughout the year. Topics covered in these events include species selection, crop management, weed, pest and disease control and pruning. Marketing and communication with buyers are also covered to help ensure crops grown meet market demand.
