This course will be suitable for all those involved in maintaining plant quality on wholesale and retail nursery businesses.

Speaker: Mr John Adlam, Dove Associates.
John Adlam grew up on the family nursery and subsequently trained at Writtle and Hadlow. He was later awarded a Nuffield Scholarship and went on to study in  Australia. Posts held include European Research and Development Manager for a  multi-national irrigation company and Technical Advisor to a major East Anglian nursery stock producer. He is an active member of the International Plant Propagators Society and a council member of the Horticultural Trades Association and represents the membership on many legislative bodies providing a "grass root" view on important issues of the industry. As a director of the Horticultural Development Company and a member of the Nursery Stock Panel, he frequently participates in their workshop programmes around the UK.
The programme will include the following topics:
  • Identifying key pests and diseases
  • Life cycles of main pests and diseases
  • Non chemical control
  • Update on chemical control
  • Vine weevil control update
  • Planning programmes for different crop groups
A handout summarising the course information will be available on the day
Lunch can be purchased in Manor Restaurant.
