Due to higher labour and production costs than other European countries, it is vital that Northern Ireland mushroom growers produce high yields of excellent quality mushrooms efficiently, to remain competitive and cost effective. Recent figures indicate that within the mushroom sector there is a difference in production costs of 24 percent between the highest and lowest yielding crops.Aim

- Growing cycle management
- Pest and disease management
Local group meetings will help you learn from others whilst also receiving support from your local Mushroom Development Adviser. There will be best practice visits and specialist input from Northern Ireland Horticulture and Plant Breeding Station, Loughall to demonstrate how you can make improvements on your farm. On completion, there is an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
