Silage Production

Silage production

Our policy on silage making is to produce high ‘D’ value silage with a relatively high dry matter to encourage high dry matter intakes. Grass is spread out for a 24 hour rapid wiltbefore being precision chop harvested. An innoculant additive is applied. The aim is to make as much 1st cut silage as possible for the dairy herd. Our targets are for 70 percent+ ‘D’ value, ME 11.5+, Intake value 90+, and DM 25 – 30 percent.
