Stephen Clyde takes over the reins of the Greenmount Organic Unit

Stephen Clyde, an Assistant Farm Manager at CAFRE, Greenmount Campus, manages the Abbey Farm. Stephen is a former student at Greenmount, where he graduated with a National Diploma in Agriculture in 1989.

Apart from a short spell in industry in the mid 1990s, Stephen has spent most of his working life at Greenmount, starting there after his graduation, and was managed by the late Victor Woods from 1999 until Victor’s untimely death at the end of 2009.

Stephen commenced as a Field Assistant at the Abbey Farm in what was then the Experimental Husbandry Department, and progressed rapidly to Farm Foreman under Victor, attributing much of his knowledge of beef cattle breeding and nutrition to his mentor and friend.

In his spare time Stephen has a keen interest in attending cattle shows and has proved to be a competent judge.
