New Business Ideas

A series of fact sheets covering a variety of business ideas has been produced to provide information and guidance to farmers and farm family members considering diversification. Each fact sheet provides a market overview and details the main service delivery requirements. Consideration is also given to the key legal requirements and financial aspects of each business idea and a list of contacts is provided allowing the reader to source additional information.

DARD Diversification Information Project, a number of Northern Ireland farmers, farm families and farming groups undertook studies to investigate potential diversification ideas for their farms. These investigations included employing specialist research workers, carrying out desk and field research and/or participation in study tours to the RoI, the UK and Europe. A pre-requisite of the programme was the completion of a case study report on the findings of these studies.
