Birds Bugs and Beasties at Greenmount Gardens

Alan McIlveen, Horticultural Manager, Greenmount Campus, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise

During the summer months of 2010, Greenmount will once again open its splendid gardens to the public. The gardens will be open on four separate occasions the first of which is happening this coming weekend (3 and 4 July).
So why not join CAFRE staff this weekend along with representatives of the RSPB for a voyage of wildlife discovery centred on the Richardsons Walled Garden, Greenmount Campus, Antrim? Activities on offer will include; mini-beast safaris, bird watching, pond dipping, making bird boxes and other nature inspired activities for all the family.
Although family groups and budding wildlife enthusiasts are especially welcome, this is also an opportunity for the gardening enthusiast, to visit one of Ireland’s premier walled gardens, with horticultural staff on hand to answer gardening questions or advise on horticultural courses at Greenmount.
Admission to the gardens is £2.50 for adults with children under 18 free of charge.
The opening times are 10:30am -5pm on Saturday and 1:00pm-6pm on Sunday
