Locally grown woodchip is a sustainable source of heat energy which can contribute to farm income, reduce heating costs for energy users and reduce the carbon footprint.
The third in a series of SRC Willow Workshops organised by CAFRE will be held on the farm of Mr Tom Hegan, 29 Lurgy Road, Stewartstown, Dungannon, BT71 4DF on Thursday 12 March at 2.00 pm.
The workshop will look at the current methods of managing willow post harvest and in particular will have working demonstrations on chipping and grading naturally dried rods. In addition the workshop will also discuss specific market requirements for willow-chip and its quality control.
The workshop is open to all who have an interest in willow production and if you are interested in attending, please contact Rebecca Coalter at CAFRE on 028 9442 6771, or rebecca.coalter@dardni.gov.uk to book a place.

CAFRE are holding a workshop examining different methods of chipping willows harvested using a Stemster harvester
