The Green Challenge for Horticulture

Kieran Lavelle, Senior Horticulture Development Adviser, College of  Agriculture and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE)

Do you want to improve your business performance by participating in ‘The Green Challenge’?
‘The Green Challenge’ is the title of a conference organised by CAFRE in partnership with the Horticultural Trade Association (HTA) to address sustainability issues within horticulture. The conference will be held at Greenmount Campus, on Thursday 5 February, 2009.
Speaking at the launch of the conference, John Fay, CAFRE Director said “this is an excellent opportunity for the horticulture sector within Northern Ireland to hear and see at first hand the latest innovative sustainable technologies. I am particularly pleased to partner the HTA and welcome their input to this rapidly changing area.”
‘The conference should prove beneficial to garden centres, local authorities as well as producers of fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, and ornamental crops. I would strongly encourage all people with an interest in sustainable issues in horticulture to plan the date in their diary now. ’ said Michele Shirlow, HTA.
The conference committee also welcomes companies with expertise in the area of sustainability in horticulture to exhibit on the day.
